After falling at the battle of Trafalgar, in 1805, Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson was laid in-state in The Painted Halls. Tens of thousands of people came to Greenwich to pay their respects.
The site is regularly used as a film set, Pirates of the Caribbean, Les Misérables and Cruella being just a few of the motion pictures featuring the location.
